Brief introduction:

• This article reviews the history of the method of statistical analysis for soil testing data and evaluates the reliability of the Vietnamese standard TCVN 9153:2012.
• Unfortunately, the printing version of TCVN 9153:2012 has many typos. Even worse, some of these typos could make the reverse meaning. Therefore, the readers should refer to handbooks on statistics to get correct concepts and formulae whenever working on TCVN 9153:2012.
